Helix Meridian Health
Founded in Basel, Switzerland · Region: EU
Helix Meridian Health is the Meridian Group’s healthcare-AI subsidiary, headquartered in Basel within a stone’s throw of three of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies and operating under the same polished cross-sector framework as the rest of the Meridian portfolio. Five hundred staff across Basel, Boston, and Singapore. A research division that publishes in respected journals. A corporate communications department that responds to every press inquiry within forty-eight hours, with answers that have been reviewed at three levels.
Their products are corporate-tier health AI — clinical-trial optimization models, drug-interaction prediction systems, the kind of high-six- to mid-seven-figure Cu engagements that involve regulatory review in multiple jurisdictions and contractual indemnification clauses that occupy more pages than the technical specifications.
The Basel office’s lobby contains a sculpture of a stylized helix in patinated bronze that the firm commissioned when it absorbed a smaller imaging firm in the same complex. The helix is, the firm’s PR team notes, “deliberately not double-stranded.” They will not elaborate on why this matters.
Helix Meridian’s regulatory affairs team is unusually large — over fifty staff — and operates with an internal mandate that Meridian Group’s procurement framework describes as “proactive engagement with anticipated regulatory regimes.” In practice, this means the team has, on more than one occasion, produced detailed regulatory-compliance documentation for jurisdictions whose regulatory regimes had not yet been publicly announced. The team’s senior director declines to discuss the firm’s information sources. Her predecessor left the firm under non-disclosure to take a position at a different Meridian subsidiary.
