Lockwell Systems

Lockwell Systems is a five-person Tallinn cyberdefense boutique that punches considerably above its weight in EU defense procurement, owing to (a) Estonia’s national reputation for digital infrastructure security, (b) the founders’ previous roles in the national cybersecurity coordination body, and (c) a willingness to take contracts that larger Western European shops won’t touch because the politics are inconvenient. Their office overlooks the medieval Old Town. The cobblestones outside have not been updated in centuries; the office Wi-Fi has been replaced four times.

Their work is hardened communication models — encrypted-channel anomaly detection, infrastructure-attack early warning, the boring kind of security that becomes interesting only when something goes wrong. They deliver two or three models per quarter, each invoiced in the high five-figure Cu range. They prefer it boring.

The senior partner, in conversation, has a tendency to glance at the window when discussing customers east of Riga. He has not commented on this habit. His colleagues have not asked.

Lockwell maintains an air-gapped development environment in a windowless basement room that the office tour does not include. They have never lost a model to leak. They have also never explained how, exactly, the air-gap is maintained when finished models are inevitably delivered to clients across the network.
